Introduction of the new Davidoff Puro d´Oro

Before I start, I have to tell that I'm not a big fan of the Davidoffs coming from the D.R., but some time ago I got this personal invitation. Marc Portmann told me that this should be a really interesting line and they're said to be strong, so I thought I give them a chance.

The location where this event takes place is really nice, it's the Salon Davidoff in the Grand Hotel Quellenhof Bad Ragaz , a very exclusive hotel complex about 40 minutes away from Balgach.

I'm sure that this'll be a nice evening and if I don't like the cigars there, I'll have something better with me.

That's what they write on the homepage of Davidoff about the new line (Source: www.davidoff.com):

In tribute to Davidoff’s original way of packaging cigars in the 1940s, they will be bundled in batches of 25, elegantly tied with a silk ribbon and packed in a paper covered box.

The head with a pigtail gives the “Puro d’Oro” cigars a characteristic of earlier formats such as the Davidoff No. “1” and “2”, launched in 1967. And the name of the format is embossed on a gold band at the foot of the cigar.

The Davidoff Puro d’Oro cigars are made according to a long-established, traditional method using only tobaccos from the country of origin – including the unique Dominican Davidoff Yamasa™ wrapper leaf developed especially for this new cigar series. Available in four formats, the series stands out for its strong, highly aromatic and yet well-balanced cigars with hints of coffee and spices in the finish. The pigtail capand the gold embossed ring arround the wrapper leaf with its elegant sheen underline the trademark features of this series.
