01/14 - A spiritual pre-Herf

... but it's less spiritual than you maybe think... it's more about spirits... spirits from Scotland called Scotch Single Malt Whisky.

Due to our trip to Dusseldorf to meet with some guys I took Tom's offer to stay over night at his home... our plane'll fly outta Zurich at 7 am on Saturday morning, so the trip to the airport in the morning'll a bit more relaxed, cuz it's only 30 minutes away from his place.

We'd planned very often that we should meet and have some good Whisky and cigars together but until today it didn't happen to be realized.

So I grabbed a few bottles that we sampled during the evening....
  • Glen Grant 1970, Duncan Taylor
  • Bunnahabhain 1973, Whisky Agency
  • Ardbeg 1975, Spirit of Scotland
  • Glenfarclas 1971, Whiskyfair
  • Octomore Orpheus 02.2
  • Octomore 3/152
I went to Tom after work and when I arrived at his house he was preparing the food for dinner... Spaetzle with some delicious sauce with meat....

After dinner we moved to the smoker´s lounge to enjoy some good cigars in combination with the Whisky I brought with me...

We smoked two fantastic cigars... both Bolivar... at first a Lonsdale from ´99, second a Simones ER Canada... they went along well with the Single Malts....

Tom´s really happy about all 6 (we had some "discussions" about how much I´d to fill into the glass *lol*) but in the end we found an agreement... and the Orpheus was the winner of the evening... the combination of peat and the sweetness of the Chateau Petrus cask is really awesome....

Two happy guys....

We went to bed around midnight, knowing that we´ve to stand up 4 hours later, cuz we´d to drive to Zurich airport... We´d to catch the plane to Dusseldorf where we would meet some friend for a lil Herf...

But this Herf´ll be another story...
