Torcedora at Portmann´s

The Cuban torcedora Ana Isel Mederos Cano is on her tour through Switzerland and of course she also makes a stop at Portmann's shops in Vaduz, Kreuzlingen and St. Gallen.

She's the one who rolled nothin else than BHK 56 during the last year..

I took the chance to meet her on Wednesday in Vaduz where we spent a nice evening at the local Cubaclub.

She was still in the shop when I arrived and so I got a fresh one directly from her table....

Marc also got a new product which is now on the Swiss Market: a little humidor filled with 15 Cohiba Siglo VI Tubo... I don´t know the exact price but heard that it´s priced fair.

Around 6 pm all the stuff was moved upstairs to the local Cubaclub where she again started to roll some more sticks for the people... another nice evening with people I haven't seen for a while...

On Friday I met her again in Kreuzlingen, the same day when Urs and Norbert made their presentation about their trip to the Festival.... bringin some interesting news and good cigars with them...

Ana was busy rolling cigars when I arrived at Kreuzlingen in the afternoon but it was still possible to tell her that I want something different than the "fatties" most people order... so I got something like a "Double Lonsdale"... really good...

Later we moved to the Lounge where Norbert and Urs held their presentation with a lot of information about their trip to Cuba in February where they'd also been at the Festival... very nice pictures and of course a lot of information...

A very relaxing evening and a good start for the weekend...

04/13 - Kennedy Space Center

The last of our three excursions... this time to a place which is still no entertainment park, but maybe it'll change after the last Shuttle launch which'll be on 04/29 - tomorrow.

cigar, cigars, cigar's, blog, blogger, tasted, tasting, tastings, tasty, smoke, smoked, smoking, smokes, smoker, vaduz, kreuzlingen, schweiz, switzerland, suiza, swiss, suisse, whisky, whiskys, whiskies, whiskey, whiskeys, blind tasting, experiment, experiments, review, reviews, reviewing, eldondo, balgach, portmann, portmanns, portmann's, lonsdale, lonsdales, robusto, robustos, corona, coronas, box, humidor, humidors, boxes, tobacco, tabak, zigarre, zigarren, rauchen, verkostung, heiko, blumentritt, heiko blumentritt, jar, jars, ceramic jar, ceramic jars, trip, trips, pharmacy smoke, ans, lounge, ERdM, El Rey del Mundo, LGC, La GLoria Cubana, Triunfos, edicion, regionales, limitada, nasa, kennedy space center, space shuttle, raumfahrt, weltraum

It seems like we took the right time of the year to make this trip, because the parkin lot was more or less empty when we arrived there and also during the day it wasn't overcrowded...

We started our round-trip through the area at the Rocket Garden where you can see the rockets which've been used for several missions and space programs.

After that our way led us through the Memorial Hall... it's in honor of all those people who lost their life in the past while doing there mission.

A look over the area

They also have an old Space Shuttle in which you can walk in and have a look inside... everything very narrow, nothin for people with claustrophobia.

Space Shuttle "The Explorer"

Fuel Tank and rockets

We had the chance to take a bus tour which led us through the parts of the area where they prepare the Shuttle for the next launch... you could the see the transportation platform (which is of the size of a baseball field and we could see the Space shuttle which's already at the launch pad. They bring it to the launch pad app. 30 days before the countdown starts, the process to bring the Shuttle from the preparation building to the pad takes app. 8 hours.

The Shuttle itself is hidden by the construction of the launch pad but you can see the orange top of the fuel tank in the middle of the picture.

The Shuttle is already at the launch pad, usually 30 days before the countdown

It was definetely a very interesting day... not the usual entertainment stuff... it still was a bit more scientifical... let's see what they make of it when the space program is over... maybe another kinda Disneyland... who knows...

04/12 - Gatorland Orlando, FL

You'll find a lot of Alligators in all the water which is in the area of Orlando... but if you wanna see them all in one place you´ve to go to Gatorland, which was established in the year 1949.

cigar, cigars, cigar's, blog, blogger, tasted, tasting, tastings, tasty, smoke, smoked, smoking, smokes, smoker, vaduz, kreuzlingen, schweiz, switzerland, suiza, swiss, suisse, whisky, whiskys, whiskies, whiskey, whiskeys, blind tasting, experiment, experiments, review, reviews, reviewing, eldondo, balgach, portmann, portmanns, portmann's, lonsdale, lonsdales, robusto, robustos, corona, coronas, box, humidor, humidors, boxes, tobacco, tabak, zigarre, zigarren, rauchen, verkostung, heiko, blumentritt, heiko blumentritt, jar, jars, ceramic jar, ceramic jars, trip, trips, pharmacy smoke, ans, lounge, ERdM, El Rey del Mundo, LGC, La GLoria Cubana, Triunfos, edicion, regionales, limitada, gator, gatorland, crocodile, krokodil, alligator
Welcome to Gatorland

Alligator island is in the northern part of the park in the so called „Gator Lake“. It's the home of some of the biggest reptiles of the park and it's a good place to see them from a short distance while they're lying in the sun.

This looks like a plastic one, but it´s real!

As in all those other parks they also offer a few shows with the alligators, one of those is the wrestling show where one of the guys shows several things with one of the alligators. It looks all very easy and they make fun all the time but be assured that this guy is at high level of concentration all the time.

The guy won.

Showing the teeth.

Some show for the audience

Puttin the alligator asleep.

Another show is the so called Jumparoo Show where the guys "motivate" the Gators to jump outta the water with some chicken drumsticks... also shown in a funny way but here they have to be concentraded... one little mistake can cost you the hand or arm...

Welcome to the Jumparoo show

Come outta the water you lazy bones.

Who get´s the meat?

Some more chicken?

In 1991 a breeding area was created which is of a size of 4 ha marshland, 130 alligators live there... 100 female and 30 male. This alligators are takin care of the next generation... there are some wooden bridges and a observation platform which allow you to take a view over this lake and the the surrounding marshland.

Resting alligator

It´s feeding time.

Gimme the meat.

That´s the way I like it.

This park also has 4 white alligators... and those are no real albinos, cuz they don't have red but blue eyes. These eyes are really magic.. the color is fascinating. It's said that you'll have luck and success until the end of your life if you'll look once into their eyes... ok... we did so, hopefully this legend is true

They are located in a separated part of the park, they're in-house because they cannot be in the sun and need the shadow...

04/11 - Seaworld Orlando, FL

Welcome to Seaworld in Orlando... if you approach the park you see the big sign to welcome the visitors with one of their biggest attractions... the killer whales... I was really lookin forward to this show...

cigar, cigars, cigar's, blog, blogger, tasted, tasting, tastings, tasty, smoke, smoked, smoking, smokes, smoker, vaduz, kreuzlingen, schweiz, switzerland, suiza, swiss, suisse, whisky, whiskys, whiskies, whiskey, whiskeys, blind tasting, experiment, experiments, review, reviews, reviewing, eldondo, balgach, portmann, portmanns, portmann's, lonsdale, lonsdales, robusto, robustos, corona, coronas, box, humidor, humidors, boxes, tobacco, tabak, zigarre, zigarren, rauchen, verkostung, heiko, blumentritt, heiko blumentritt, jar, jars, ceramic jar, ceramic jars, trip, trips, pharmacy smoke, ans, lounge, ERdM, El Rey del Mundo, LGC, La GLoria Cubana, Triunfos, edicion, regionales, limitada, Killerwal, killer whale, orka, orca, Shamu

This park is really big and we decided that we wanna set our focus on the shows that you can see there instead of standing in long queues to wait for one ride in one of the roller coasters... I think it was a good decision... we saw a lot of interesting and funny shows.... it's fascinating how those animals are trained...

Hey guys...

Some water for you...

... and some for you....

That was funny, wasn´t it?

Time for some more applause...

We both really enjoyed the show at the Shamu stadium and so it was a must for us to see also the show with the dolphins and the Beluga whales which should take place two hours later.

I took tons of pix but it would be too much to show 'em all here... it should be only an appetizer to make you curious about it, cuz in the end you´ve to see it live to share the fascination...

We also saw some other shows but for this report I narrowed it down to those which fascinated me most...
