04/08 - 04/16 - Relaxin in the Sunshine State, Part II

On 04/14 we changed the hotel and moved to the Omni at Champions Gate to meet with some other guys... smokin cigars, havin fun...

The hotel itself's really nice... big rooms, a very nice pool area... the only negative thing's that they cooled down the lobby like a damn fridge... due to that I got a bad cold...

Rob arrived with us at the hotel

Some of the guys in one of the Cabanas

At Crocs bar

Smoking a 1492 with some guys... outstanding smoke.

I went to bed at Thursday evening around 12.30 am, the days before with all the shopping and all those parks, walking around etc. had been really exhausting....

On the other hand I woke up at 7 am, well rested and after havin a breakfast we went to the pool to meet the first guys who also crawled outta their beds to have the first cigar of the morning and some coffee...

Good morning smoke at the pool

As I wrote in my first report about our stay in Orlando... I'm normally no big fan of American beer... and the guys like Jeff, Dave and Brad agreed with me... but they brought some stuff and gave it to me to try it... and to convince me that there's also some better stuff....

The "beer gang"

The first I tried was the KBS which is stored in Bourbon casks... really sweet... the sweetness is at the borderline for me... but it's a strong beer and it goes very well with cigars...

A really good American beer

The second beer I tried was the Hopslam... it's a really good balance of bitter notes and also some refreshing lemon / citrus notes... definitely a beer I'd drink again.... and enjoy...

Thx to Jeff, Dave and the other who gave me this chance...

Another good American beer (I liked it even more than the KBS)

I also got a bottle of Paradox Macallan from Seth... this one has been stored in 1987 Macallan Sherry casks... I'm really curious about that and cannot wait that my cold is gone to try it...

Later at this evening we went with Vin, Bao, Jamie, Tristan, Leo and some other guys to their house... they didn't stay in the hotel but rented a house just around the corner. Moe, the cannoli guy, was acting like crazy in the kitchen and preparing some pasta and a really good tomato sauce for all of us... I really appreciated that... this food was much better than the stuff you got at the pool bar in the hotel...

Moe in the kitchen of "Moe´s Pasta Palace"

Leo brought some good wine and so we'd a relaxed dinner...

Listening to the "piano man"

Before we went back to the hotel we decided to smoke another cigar at it ended up in a PPP with some really good cigars... the highlight was definetly the mystery cigar that Jamie threw in... nobody recognized it, we only agreed that's something old and something of high quality. It was a Dunhill Varadero... some really good and rare vintage stuff.

He was the bottle neck of the PPP...

Another bottle neck

Back at the hotel we joined the others and the group was more or less complete after all returned from the different places where they´d been for dinner.

At the pool in the night

A lot of good cigars were smoked but one of the outstanding ones was a "Lords of England" from the 1920s. Still very flavorfull... couldn't believe that this cigar's already 90 years old.

Lords of England from the 1920s - an amazing cigar

Some crazy sticks´ve been passed around here...

On Saturday morning we'd to leave the hotel around 10 am... and I felt sick as a dog at this morning... damn A/C killed me.... we joined the guys at the Cabanas at the pool, had some more good conversations and when the vintage tasting started we said good-bye to all of them.... Luckily I could take a stick with me... I'll smoke it when my cold's gone...

Good morning guys...
