Winter photography


We'd some early snow this year... but it's a serious amount of snow which gave us a beautiful scenerey when the sun came out and the sky's blue... at one of those nice days I took the chance to take some pix.

Beer Bratwurst Burger


Another recipe from Ted Reader's book "Napoleon's Everyday Gourmet Burgers"... and another awesome result...

All you need is:
  • Bratwurst
  • Pretzels
  • roasted onion
  • beer
  • onion
  • grainy mustard
  • salt and pepper
  • and some more beer...

Crush the pretzels, dice the onion and mix all ingredients after removing the skin from the bratwurst. Season the mixture with salt and pepper, shape some paddies and put them into the fridge for minimum 1 hour.



When the resting time is over take the paddies out of the fridge, put them in a bowl and pour the beer over it, the paddies should be covered (otherwise turn them after a while) and marinate them in the beer for another 1 or 2 hours...


I baked some fresh pretzel buns but you can also use regular buns... but I'm sure the taste is better with the pretzel buns...


Take the paddies out of the beer marinade, dry them and put them to the grill where you grill them for about 5 minutes per side...


In the meantime prepare the buns with some mustard, salad and caramelized onions...


When the paddies are done from both sides, put the cheese on top (I took some Appenzeller) and give it some time to melt...


Put the paddies on the prepared buns and top it with some more of the caramelized onions... enjoy with some more beer to wash it down...

A scottish Ale


This beer pours in with a clear deep ruby color and smells of lighted roasted caramel malt, some oak and earthy hops. The taste is nutty toasted malt, a bit of general woodiness and some hops with a lingering aftertaste of peat and smoke. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side with a silky and smooth texture.

12/04 - 3rd musketeer smoke


It´s the 3rd time that we met for this - in the meantime - traditional end-of-the-year-smoke... a bit early this year but due to all those upcoming xmas festivities it wasn´t easy to find a date which´s fine for all of us... even though we´re just three people...

This time we decided to meet at a place that some guys found recently, a new opened so-called "cigar lounge"... ok... the place is not too bad but the ambience is more like in a disco from the 80s than a cigar lounge. Luckily the lowered the volume of the music after my arrival while I waited for Tom and Ralf... I shortened this waiting time with an excellent Hoyo du Maire from 1995, a short but sublime smoke.

Even though I complained about the atmosphere I´ve to say that the food was really great... everything fresh and tasty! If they wouldn´t give you this disco feeling this place would be perfect imho.

Time flew while talking about all kinda stuff. One topic was our next herf in Switzerland in 2013 which´ll be organized by Tom and which´ll be something different that we never had before... but I don´t wanna tell too much about it. It´ll take place in October, that´s for sure... the rest will stay secret...

12/02 - Xmas market in Balgach


It´s perfect Xmas market weather: snowfall and temperatures below the freezing point... good conditions to enjoy a hot mulled wine and some hot chestnuts...

The fascinating thing is that really many people come to Balgach for this market... every street is filled with parking cars. Luckily we´ve just to walk a minute to be in the middle of it... due to this I paid one visit to take some pix and another one with Tanja...
