Today Moses in Dornbirn had an interesting event called "Tag des Rums"... Moses is also the representative of the SSMC, Scotch Single Malt Circle from Maggie and Bill Miller who always have really great whiskys in their range... it´s worth to be a member there, go to www.scotchsingle.de for more detailed information.
Ok, back to rum... they´d a wide range of open bottles there to try different rums from different regions. Personally I drink some rum from time to time but to be honest I prefer Single Malts... if it´s a rum, I take a Rhum Agricole if possible...
Today I´d the chance to try some different ones... some molasse-based, some agricole... Michael Mattersberger, who was there presenting all the stuff, explained all really good and gave the people also some background information about rum and production. I tried an interesting range for sure but in the end I found out that it´s nice to have a glass of it from time to time but definitely I´ll stick to whisky.
Here are some pix of the nicely arranged part of the shop which was dedicated to this special event today...
Interesting stuff - finished in PX sherry casks
Good change of taste with a Jamaica rum
El Dorado - a solid choice for a good price
A touch of wood in this Barbados rum
Nice notes of chocolate and vanilla
