06/27 - Chocolate, rum and cigars


Another interesting event organized by Urs Portmann and the responsibles of the Griffins Business Lounge... about sensorical stuff and the combination of chocolate, rum and cigars.

About 40 people came for this event and after a tasty dinner with some local fish the presentation of the expert started... a fascinating presentation which took much longer than originally planned but nobody complained because we heard a lot of interesting and also new things about tasting and combining beverages and cigars.

The ingredients of this perfect evening are shown in the following pix... a 18 yo. Coruba from Jamaica, a dark chocolate from Cailler (my beloved brand) with 70 % cacao and two Ramon Allones cigars. The first was the Especiales which´s the regional edition for Switzerland from last year. The made a surprising development... when they came out they tasted totally boring, I didn´t expect any change... but now they smoke much better, a really good cigar. The second cigar, the EL from last year is simply outstanding, nothing else is necessary to be said about this fantastic cigar.

The combination of these three components helped us to experience some new tastes which we all never had before... we learned a lot about different sensorical things and I´m sure that this evening´ll be a topic also at other events when we get together...
