We went there after we´d been to the Basel Tattoo in 2011. Basel was absolutely awesome... but to be honest, the 1st Military Tattoo in St. Gallen wasn´t as good as expected... some kinda disappointing in some parts...
Honestly... would you expect an Udo-Juergens-Medley during a Tattoo? I wouldn´t. App. 30 minutes of "Swiss folklore meets bag pipes"... a big fail.
Luckily the Military music from Salzburg, the Knabenmusik St. Gallen, Billy Jordan with the future drummayors and the Massed Pipes and Drums made a good show.
I also grabbed a bottle of the special bottling of the Arran which they´d for this event...
Arran 16 yo. bottled for the 1st Military Tattoo, St. Gallen
