01/13 - Old New Year's Eve in Urnaesch

It's January 13th, the beginning of the New Year acc. to the Julian Calender... and in a few villages of the Appenzell region they carry on a very a old tradition... Silvesterchlausen.

This time I managed to see all the three different kinds of them:
  • the Nice
  • the Ugly
  • the Nice-Ugly
See some of the shots I made of them and get an impression of all the costumes and this very old tradition which always brings a lot of people to this little village...

The Nice

The Nice-Ugly
