01/17 - Smoke Privada No. 1

The first tasting in 2014 of our 4 guys group which has been established last year by, it seems to get another tradition like the whisky tastings that I do on a regular basis normally twice a year in the Griffins Business Lounge.

As in the past I will do the pictures of those tasting events in black and white... another tradition.

This time we'd the chance to smoke a Partagas Seleccion Privada No. 1, box code EAT CCUA which is from the Partagas factory, packed in 1999. For me the best cigar of the regular Partagas range (unfortunately discontinued since 2002) that I ever had and definitely also among the best cigars I had in general.

As usual we'd the tasting sheets that we filled out, the results is available on the blog of Feltedhat: This time we had not the big range of taste within those 4 cigars, all were on a high level and satisfied all of us. Mine was full of flavors with a full body, a Partagas at its best.

Firing up

Additionally I brought a bottle of DeuS Brut des Flandres, bottled in 2010 with me... a very special kind of beer: First brewed at Bosteels in Belgium, transfered to the Champagne region of France were it is treated much like a champagne with the bottles inverted and the yeast expunged and bottle recorked. The result is a beer like champagne, unusual but a perfect company with the leathery and earthy aromas of the Partagas.

It's good to see that all the others liked this Belgian beer, maybe we can pair the next cigar with an another interesting bottling that cannot be found at every corner.
